Perhaps, no other animals in the planet has never been so close to humans other than dogs themselves. Cats may be one of them but I guess majority of us love dogs. Dogs have a certain kind of charisma that no single individual can explain. Perhaps, it could be due to their gentle nature. But despite of their gentleness, they can also become ferocious at times when provoked or when confronted by danger such as the intrusion of strangers in their territory, as in the case when a stranger is trying to break into their master's den. =)
For others, dogs fulfill their parenting needs. People who live alone usually own pet to satisfy their craving for company (how sad, hehe. Well, just an underestimation. Nothing serious hehe).
